How-To Create Your Own Garland
So, I don’t know about you. But I am OBSESSED with garland. I know it has been a HUGE trend the last few years and is gradually growing even more.
Now, if you are like me and on a pretty strict budget but cannot get that super gorgeous garland out of your mind. I’ve search all over Etsy to even get a fake one. Found some very pretty ones for about $70 each on Etsy (for ones with just greenery, no flowers or jewels or anything). I will show you how to create a basic 6 foot garland for under $30!!!
Professional Hobby Lobby and Amazon Shopper
I just want to tell you how much I use Hobby Lobby and Amazon. If it will save me the time of going to a million places..I will get it on Amazon. Hobby Lobby is my go-to for everything crafty and if Hobby Lobby doesn’t have it then I go straight to Amazon. Below will be links listed where you can buy them and for how much. I always go for Hobby lobby first because they have amaaaaazing deals like ALL THE TIME.
I estimated about 10 bundles of the leaves will equal the desired length I wanted. Which is 6 feet maybe a 6.5 feet. To me that was plenty, I wanted to have the balloons attached to the garland. You can use either a big giant balloon like I did or have several balloons attached.
I start with cutting a piece of the ribbon at the desired length. Grab 3 of the leaves and wrap them around the ribbon a few times. Have the green floral tape handy and start to wrap the tape around the ribbon. Add more of the leaves 2 to 3 at a time staggering them and wrapping them with the tape! The garland will look flat at first….if you are trying to have them lay down on a table then this will work fine.
Although, if you are wanting to have them be part of the balloon garland like mine continue to build it your garland and start fanning it out like the photo below.
The more you add the more you can expand your leaves and the bigger your garland will get. I liked to grab a couple different colors of leaves, I used the gold and the green for the garland but they have a few other colors you can choose from.
I mean, how gorgeous does this look!? For the Bride garland we used all gold with lots of pearls! It added that special and extra POP! You know? 🙂
I created this brunch to ask some of my closest friends and family to be part of my Bridal Party. I am so excited to have these ladies stand by my side on the most special day of my life!! Meet my lovely bridesmaids!
A gigantic thanks goes out to my mom, Bryanna and Vanessa who helped me create these garlands. It took us roughly about 3 hours to make each garland.
As incredibly gorgeous as they are, I do recommend grabbing a friend, cracking open a bottle of wine and getting to it. We turned on several episodes of Friends and just made it a fun night!!
